I really don’t know why it’s taking me quite a longtime to get used to writing down my thoughts in a daily basis. Sometimes it does get frustrating! I just can’t keep my blog updated regularly.

After hesitating for a long while, I eventually decided to migrate my blog to a new server, in doing so, I do wanted to try WordPress out so I also migrated my blog database from Google Blogger to the WordPress blog system. Though I was happy using Google Blogger (I actually quite like the way it generates a purely static HTML blog), I wanted to have a whole powerful configurable blog system on my server. The WordPress plug-in system is amazing, it’s the feature I actually liked most, so now I can hack on it from time to time. I couldn’t do that with Blogger, for instance. There are still some missing features in WordPress that I had in Blogger, the one that I miss most is the multi-blog support in a single database without needing to have multiple WordPress installations in different directories. I know WordPress MU is scalable to millions of blogs but that’s not what I need either, I can hardly keep one updated . However I’d really like to have multi-blog support to separate my posts in different languages, so I just need 3 blogs. I’ll try to get some experience hacking on WP first to implement that feature, myself, using the WP plug-in system. Anyway, it’s a good pretext to use one of my favorite scripting languages again, it’s been like ages since the last time I made a web application in PHP.

Since WP is not based in static HTML pages, I do hope that the Google search engine will have no problems indexing my blog.

By the way, I just installed a plug-in called Riffly in my WP blog system that allows visitors to add video/audio comments to my blog entries. I’ll be adding up a video comment later on for testing this new functionality of my blog.

As you can see, I took the time to beauty my blog. Just to let you know, I, personally, prefer using geek-like plain text pages, I do like to keep things simple, for me, simplicity is beauty. However, my conception of aesthetics is very unlikely the same than my reader’s. Notice that I’m being polite, I like to refer to those who read my blog as “my reader” and not as “my readers”, I think that one-on-one conversations make people feel better, after all, it’s a blog, not a newspaper. I think that aesthetics is an important part of that one-on-one conversation to make my reader feel well while reading my blog.

Ok, you’re right, I have to admit it… I’m not going to write a book here trying to justify why I did beauty my blog, I just wanted to know how it feels to have new features in it ! we’re done.
